As you might recall, during the month of February, a portion of the proceeds from each massage session was donated to the American Heart Association (AHA). I am happy to report that together we raised $230, which proves that even a small proprietor can make a big difference. Thank you to all who came through last month!
This month marks the beginning of spring! With the weather warming up a bit, it’s the perfect time to create some new heart-healthy habits. The AHA website is full of suggestions and information regarding nutrition, exercise, stress management, smoking cessation, and more. You will find an impressive array of recipes, including hearty soups and stews; delectable sides and salads; soul-satisfying main courses (for vegetarians and meat-lovers alike); and yes, desserts!
You might consider taking part in National Walking Day, Wednesday, April 3, 2013. On that day, individuals, organizations, and companies across America will demonstrate their commitment to heart-healthy living by walking for 30 minutes. This could be your first move towards shaking off the winter and adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle. You can register to be a part of it on the AHA website.
Finally, don’t forget that relaxation is a significant part of your heart-healthy lifestyle. By including regular massage treatments in your personal health plan, you will offset stress and affirm your healthy choices. As your activity levels increase, your muscles will thank you for coming in on a regular basis.
