Happy New Year!
This year I have renewed my commitment to charitable giving and kicked off 2013 by participating in an event benefitting the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society.
The Paper Craft and Crop to Stop MS is an annual daylong event that gives scrapbookers an opportunity to share ideas, learn new techniques, and work together while raising money for the MS Society. The event featured vendors, prizes, mini-workshops, tables filled with people busily scrapbooking, and a separate room where participants could escape the activity and rejuvenate with a chair massage. I was one of two massage therapists who volunteered to participate. Besides providing chair massages, I also donated a 45-minute massage as a raffle prize.
In its third year, the Craft and Crop featured around 70 participants, and together they raised nearly $5,000 for the MS Society. The daylong event was festive, well organized, and featured a lunch and snacks: if you are a scrapbooker you might want to join in on the fun next year. If you would like to become involved in helping the MS Society, their web page lists a number of events and volunteer opportunities.
With Valentine’s Day approaching, our attention turns to matters of the heart. During February, a portion of the proceeds from each massage session will be donated to the American Heart Association. Therefore, each time you come in for a massage appointment or buy a gift certificate in February, you will be taking care of yourself and helping others as well.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
All my best,
